Encapsulation Services in Rome, GA
Protecting Crawlspaces from Pests, Moisture & More
Most homeowners with a crawlspace tend to ignore this area of their home as much as possible. After all, they’re dark, cramped, damp, and can be pretty dirty as well. However, ignoring your crawlspace could be to your detriment. Over half the air in your home comes up from the crawlspace below, and that means mold, mildew, wildlife waste, and plenty of other contaminants could be actively harming the air quality in your home. Likewise, the moisture so commonly found in crawlspace air could also be actively damaging your home’s structure.
In areas that receive a high amount of rain and humidity, such as Rome and the surrounding areas of northwest Georgia, many homes have crawlspaces to protect homes from moisture damage, but moisture can still wreak havoc on your home from your crawlspace if it isn’t protected. At Gable's Heating, Air & Refrigeration, we offer crawlspace encapsulation services that provide that much-needed protection from the hazards that crawlspaces can carry. We use quality materials and a detail-oriented process to get the job done the right way for long-term results.

Our Crawlspace Encapsulation Process
Encapsulating a crawlspace is the process of sealing your crawlspace from the outside using sheets of flexible plastic along the space’s walls and dirt floors. This creates a moisture barrier that dramatically reduces the humidity and moisture content in the air in your crawlspace, thereby making it more difficult for mold, mildew, odors, and other issues to take root. This barrier also works to keep pests out of your crawlspace, which in turn prevents them from nesting and leaving behind waste that can also contribute to odors and poor-quality air.
We use a tried-and-true process to protect your crawlspace:
- Inspection: We first need to assess your crawlspace. If necessary, we’ll let you know what preparation we need to do, including installing a sump pump if necessary to remove excess groundwater.

Five Reasons to Encapsulate Your Crawlspace
Why should you have your crawlspace professionally encapsulated? The benefits of doing so are numerous, and you might not realize just how much a damp or unkempt crawlspace could be impacting your home and your overall indoor air quality.
Here are five reasons people choose to encapsulate their crawlspace:
- Lower heating & cooling costs: Air leaks through your crawlspace could be wasting hundreds or even thousands of kilowatt hours of energy every year by allowing heated or cooled air to escape.
- Stops mold growth: Mold often grows in dark, damp places, and it isn’t uncommon for exposed wooden structural beams in damp crawlspaces to become hotspots for mold.
- Eliminates odors: If you have an awful smell in your home you can’t seem to get rid of, it very likely could be in your crawlspace.
- Stops structural damage from wood rot: A moist or damp crawlspace could slowly be rotting away at the wooden structure beneath your floor. Encapsulation slows or even stops this process entirely.
- Stops pests from getting into your home: Many insects and other pests use crawlspaces to sneak into our homes. Encapsulation slows this process or even stops pests entirely.
